Electronic Technology

Atlantic Technical Center

The Electronic Technology (with emphasis on Computer Systems) program is designed to prepare students for employment in the electronics industry as:

  • Electronics Assembler
  • Electronics Tester 
  • Electronics Equipment Repairer
  • Electronics Technician 

The Electronic Technology program content includes, but is not limited to:

  • Win 7, Win VISTA, Win XP, Linux, Win 2008 Server
  • Installation, Configuration & Upgrading Computers
  • Diagnosing & Troubleshooting
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Motherboard/Processors/Memory
  • Printers & Peripherals
  • Networking Infrastructure and Administration
  • Routers Fundamentals
  • Electronics: Microprocessors, Digital Interface,Employability Skills

Instruction includes diagnosis and correction of operational problems in computers and microprocessors caused by mechanical, electrical or electronics, hardware and/or software malfunctions.

Laboratory activities provide instruction in the use of tools, test equipment, materials and processes found in the computer electronics, service and repair and networking service industry.  Students use various types of precision test equipment for analyzing, repairing and troubleshooting sofrware, computer hardware, electronic devices, and local area networks.

Special Note:
Propsective students should have a basic knowledge of computer operating systems.

Completion Time:
The standard length of time to complete this program is 1400 hours (approx. 13 months).

Industry Certification & State Credential Exams:
Completing students will be eligible to take the following: CompTIA A+ & Network+, CST, CNCT, CETa, FCC License and State of Florida Ready to Work.

College Credit Transfer Opportunity and /or Advanced Credit:
None at this time
