
This Psychiatric Technician (Mental Health Technician) program is designed to prepare students for employment as psychiatric aides or psychiatric technicians. Instruction includes but is not limited to nursing assistant skills, physical assessment, depression, schizophrenia, personality disorders, coma, hallucinations and crisis intervention. Psychiatric Technicians work with the mentally disabled, emotionally disturbed or psychiatric patients under the supervision of a psychiatrist, registered nurse, or social worker. They participate in the development and implementation of therapeutic treatment plans for emotionally disabled patients.

Admission Requirements:
- Completion of General School Orientation
- Take the Basic Skills Test
- Interview with Program Counselor
- Clearance on FDLE Level II Background Check*
- Negative Drug Test Results
- Immunizations and Physical
Completion Time:
The length of this program is 450 hours / approx. 5 months (full-time).
Industry Certification Exam & State Credential
Completing students will be eligible to take the following: Certified Nursing Assistant, and State of Florida Ready to Work.
